This Mother’s Day, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my mother, the light and inspiration that has led me down this path today.
By instilling in me the importance of education and perseverance, my mother made me who I am today. I would not be sitting here as Ohio 11th’s Congresswoman without her, and I am eternally indebted to her for the example she set for me.
Thanks to my mother’s example, I have never allowed the barriers I’ve encountered to stop me from pursuing my goals and blazing my own path. Having her as a role model has inspired me to fight to ensure everyone has access to opportunities, regardless of their background, every day.
To all the incredible mothers out there, you’re appreciated more than you could ever imagine. Enjoy your special day.
