John,

First, the GOP claimed that climate change was a “hoax.” Now that they can’t say that anymore, they’re trying to claim that we can solve the crisis by just planting more trees.

But here’s the problem: trees are struggling to survive climate change. So that’s not really a sustainable solution.

We have to take urgent action, but Republicans are standing in our way of progress. Will you donate to help us take back the House and do more than “just plant more trees”? [[link removed]]

TAKE ACTION » [[link removed]]Trees play a crucial role in capturing carbon and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere, support a diverse wildlife population, and even help keep cities cool.

However, climate change is moving at such a rapid pace that our trees can’t keep up with the changing temperatures. For example, some studies suggest that Seattle’s climate will more closely resemble Northern California’s by 2050 - and that impacts which trees will thrive in that kind of an environment.

Meanwhile, oak, maple, and other trees can take up to 10 years or more to fully mature and show they can tolerate a new climate.

We can’t just plant more trees and expect the climate crisis to go away. We have to take immediate action to reduce our emissions. Will you please donate now to elect a new green majority who understands the urgency of the moment? [[link removed]]
