John,
When we think about why so many of us have to deal with underfunded schools, unaffordable child care, exploding health care costs, and no paid family leave, it might just be because there are so few moms out there making laws in the halls of government.
Only about 7% of the folks in Congress are mothers of minor children. In state legislatures, that number is only 5%.
Meanwhile, we're facing dangerous restrictions on reproductive freedoms – from abortion to IVF to threats about birth control. Costs of groceries, necessities, and doctor visits are soaring. And we still don't have universal free preschool for our three- and four-year-olds.
To tackle these critical issues, we must elect more moms and parents to public office. Mothers are incredibly hard workers, and without their representation, it will be hard to move this country forward on issues that are critically important to all of us.
This movement is fueled by folks like you who are tired of seeing Republican leaders prioritize soundbites about fiscal responsibility over the need for crucial essentials like affordable childcare.
Chip in $5 or $10 bucks, or whatever is affordable for you, and let's elect the women, mothers, and parents who will pass a progressive agenda for schools, hospitals, and families.
