Adam Schiff for Senate

John —

In a matter of hours, Donald Trump will be taking the campaign rally stage in southern New Jersey.

He will no doubt whine about his gag orders and how he is being “silenced” — as he stands before a microphone, dozens of TV cameras, and thousands of adoring fans, with his words broadcast and shared via social media to billions of people around the world.

He will abide by his primary political directive where going on the offensive means being offensive to every value Americans hold dear.

He will demean and dehumanize people, especially those who are immigrants, or people of color.

He will take pride in the harm and suffering he has inflicted on women and girls, and the reproductive healthcare crisis of his own making, as states ban abortion care and threaten to criminally punish the women who seek care, the doctors who provide the care, and even the people who drive women seeking abortions to a clinic.

John, Trump has no ethical compass, no sense of right and wrong, no allegiance to the truth or anything else apart from self. In the Oval Office, that is a profound danger to everything America represents. We can never go back to that time.

The political yes men of the Republican Party surrounding Trump have given him everything in the world he has asked for over the decade since he came down that golden escalator in Trump Tower. Meanwhile, those who stood up to him, like Mike Pence on January 6, or Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger on the committee who joined us in investigating the attack, are banished, with Trump’s unhinged MAGA followers going so far as to make threats on their lives — as they have on mine.

Trump has been coddled and mollified by his one-time political rivals in the Republican Party and a pliant far-right media misinformation machine. Now that he is finally coming before the American criminal justice system, he is panicking.

So we must allow that system to run its course without interference until there is an outcome. And there will be an outcome.

And no matter what Trump says on the rally stage tonight, we will still have one job: Defeating him in November. Will you contribute any amount to our campaign before Trump takes the rally stage in New Jersey?

Thanks for reading this longer email. Some things are just bigger than partisan fighting — and upholding the integrity of the American justice system is one of them.
