John,

As we prepare to honor the moms (and the mother figures) in our lives tomorrow, I wanted to share a special note to appreciate and celebrate two incredible moms: my mom and my wife of 18 years, Stephanie.

When I was born, my mother was a very recent immigrant to America. As I grew up in our small, upstairs apartment, she taught me so much about hard work and family by the force of her example. When my brother and I were still young, she went back to school at our local community college with basic English classes. And, while taking care of her family, she kept on working and learning for years until she ended up getting her Ph.d. as a child and family psychologist. No one has ever believed in me more than she has and seeing her great relationship with Ben and Belle is one of the joys of my life.

I know it may sound cheesy, but Ben and Belle couldn’t be more fortunate to have as amazing a mom as my wife, Stephanie. In the 23 years since we met, and 18 years we’ve been married, she’s been my rock and biggest cheerleader. I couldn’t be more grateful for her steadfast support through the ups and downs of life.

Being the spouse of a candidate for Congress is, in many ways, harder than being the candidate. But she’s someone who believes in service. As a lawyer, she helped fight Jan Brewer’s racist SB1070 law in the U.S. Supreme Court and stepped away from her career in the private sector to serve as newly-elected Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone’s chief of staff as they cleaned things up after Joe Arpaio. She knows our democracy and our planet are on the line, and someone must step up and fight for a better future not just for our kids, but for your kids, and all Arizonans.

I want to make sure she has a wonderful Mother’s Day full of pampering and celebration, so I’m making a promise no of campaign emails and no checking our fundraising progress tomorrow.

I made that promise hoping that if I asked for your support today, this team would help keep up our momentum over the weekend. So what do you say, John?

Before you log off for Mother’s Day weekend, will you chip in a few bucks to help fuel our campaign to flip AZ-01? Any amount makes a difference in our grassroots campaign and is much appreciated.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Thank you and happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms in our community!
