Hello Friends,
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. On Friday, I was thrilled to host a reception to celebrate the 2024 Congressional Art Competition and the creativity of young artists from across New Hampshire’s Second Congressional District.

Thank you to all the students who submitted work for this year’s competition!
|
I’m honored to announce the winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition for New Hampshire’s Second District, Olivia Carroll, from Windham High School! Olivia’s piece, “Head in the Clouds,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building alongside the other winners from across the country. Thank you to all the students from across New Hampshire’s Second District who poured their time, energy, and passion into these amazing projects and for sharing their work with me. I look forward to seeing their continued impact on the arts in New Hampshire and beyond!

Expanding our energy grid’s transmission capacity is critical to meeting our clean energy goals.
|
Transitioning to a clean energy future is essential to mitigating the worst effects of climate change and protecting the winter sports we know and love. It was great meeting with Protect Our Winters this week to discuss my legislation to expand our energy grid’s transmission capacity and support the communities that host these projects while we work to build a brighter, greener future for all! Every life lost to substance use disorder is a tragedy.
|
The substance use disorder epidemic has impacted every community in New Hampshire and beyond—we can and must do more to address the addiction and mental health crisis and ensure our communities have the tools and support they need.
This week, I was proud to help introduce the CARE Act, which will provide state and local governments with $125 billion in federal funding over ten years to invest in substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and research and strengthen our federal response to this epidemic. Together, we can help save lives.

Everyone deserves access to safe, affordable housing.
|
It’s no secret New Hampshire is facing a housing shortage—we need to build 90,000 new units by 2040 to meet expected demand.
This week, I was pleased to help announce significant federal resources heading to New Hampshire to help expand our affordable housing stock, ensure more Granite Staters have a safe place to call home, and support our communities and economy.

Thank you to the New Hampshire Association of Realtors for meeting with me!
|
Also this week, I met with the New Hampshire Association of Realtors to discuss ways Congress can work with our local communities and leaders to expand New Hampshire's housing stock!
Everyone who wants to live in New Hampshire should be able to find a safe and affordable place to call home, and addressing New Hampshire’s housing shortage calls for creative solutions.

It’s time for Congress to deliver on policies that moms need to thrive.
|
I was proud to join my Democratic Women’s Caucus colleagues this week in calling on Congress to deliver on policies that moms and families need and deserve—from access to high-quality, affordable child care to the full slate of reproductive rights, and more. In recognition of Mother’s Day, let's build a future that works for moms and working families!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, New Hampshire!
|
New Hampshire is a better place to live and raise a family because of our amazing schools and teachers. This Teacher Appreciation Week, and every week, we thank our educators for their commitment to helping our children learn, grow, and thrive both in and outside of the classroom!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
|
Mental Health Awareness Month: Mental health is just as important as physical health, and everyone deserves access to quality, affordable mental health care. This month, and every month, I’m working to expand access to mental health care and reduce stigma so everyone can get the support they need, when they need it.
