It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
President Biden and his Democrat allies are hypocrites. Only a few short years ago, they backed a phony impeachment investigation against President Trump for purportedly "withholding" aid to Ukraine, which he had actually supplied. Now, Biden is withholding congressionally authorized aid to Israel. Firstly, Congress, representing the interests of the American people and fulfilling its foundational duty, authorized this aid. The President has no right to withhold it or arbitrarily attach conditional strings to it. Secondly, the President is doing exactly what Democrats falsely accused President Trump of doing and then impeached him for. By withholding this aid, Joe Biden is fecklessly pandering to far-left, anti-Israel Democrats in an election year because he believes he needs them to win.
I have been a vocal critic of Biden’s America-last energy agenda from his first day when he halted construction on the XL Pipeline. From blocking natural gas permits to going after our gas appliances, it’s clear that the Biden administration is willing to sacrifice the well-being of American families and productivity of small businesses to appease climate extremists and activists. That’s why I voted AYE on the Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act, which passed the House this week. This bill protects our gas home appliances by forcing Biden’s Department of Energy to justify the economic impact of banning appliances like gas stoves on low-income households. The federal government should not force any American to purchase an expensive electric stove or appliance just because the President’s far-left allies demand it.
Another important bill that passed the House this week was the Equal Representation Act. This bill would require the Census Bureau to have a citizenship question on the decennial census. Currently, noncitizens have been included in the counts that determine congressional district apportionment, even though they can’t vote! With 9.2 million illegal border crossings under the Biden administration, counting non-citizens will impact the census and potentially unfairly impact federal representation away from American citizens.
Happy Minnesota Statehood Day! Today, we celebrate our state's rich history, from the traditions of our Native American communities to our pioneering spirit shown by being the first state to volunteer soldiers in the Civil War. Unfortunately, a small contingent of radical DFL politicians and advocates wanted to erase our history. They decided our state flag should be removed and replaced because it isn’t politically correct, in their opinion. To make matters worse, they decided to officially replace it today. While the flag over the Capitol building in St. Paul may change, the one true flag Minnesotans know and love will never be erased. To show our commitment to preserving our history, we're offering koozies and mugs featuring the real flag of Minnesota. Join us in preserving our flag and celebrating Minnesota’s history.
