Your Latest Briefing from the Liberal Democrats. | | We are on a winning streak, John! | Last weekās local council, mayoral and PCC elections in England and Wales were a historic success for the Liberal Democrats.
We elected more councillors than the Conservatives in the Local Elections - the first time we have done this in 28 years! | | These results are a damning verdict on this Conservative Government and show that more and more people are turning to the Liberal Democrats to deliver the change we need.
Now we must build on this momentum for the imminent General Election. Only then can we oust the Conservatives from office and elect more Lib Dem MPs who will fight for a fair deal. | Nowās the time to act, John. We need your support to make this a reality.

| | | Doctor Who? | Half of Brits rarely or never see the same GP, according to our latest polling.
Among those over 65, over one quarter never see the same GP, even though studies suggest that continuity reduces hospital visits, improves treatment quality, and lowers mortality rates.
Under this Conservative Government, the family GP is a thing of the past - just another way theyāre damaging the publicās health. | | ā²ļø Est. reading time: 3 mins | Ed Davey announced our policy to ensure all over-70s and those with long-term health conditions see the same GP for every appointment.

Our analysis found that 75% of car thefts and 60% of shoplifting cases went unsolved.
This Conservative Governmentās ineffective resourcing has left frontline police forces stretched thin and struggling with limited resources. | | ā²ļø Est. reading time: 1 min | Criminals canāt get away like this. We need a police force focused on their local communities, to ensure justice for victims and to prevent future crime.
That's why weāre calling for a return to proper community policing, where officers are visible and trusted, with the time and resources to solve crimes effectively.

While significant strides have been made, there's still much work to do.
The Liberal Democrats are committed to improving mental health care. Weāre calling for walk-in centres for young people, placing a mental health practitioner in every school, and much more. Read about our proposals here: | | ā²ļø Est. reading time: 1 min | | | International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia on 17 May | LGBT+ people still face violence and discrimination across the world. This day is a time to reflect on how we change that.
We can be proud of our role in fighting discrimination, from being the first party to openly oppose Section 28, to our work in legalising same sex marriage.
But discrimination is still prevalent in the UK, particularly against the trans community, and the Government is yet to ban conversion therapy.
We are committed to fighting for the rights of all LGBT+ people to achieve true equality. | | | Work for Us | Want to help shape the future of the country?
