Dear Friend,
Since I first came to Congress, I’ve been working with both parties to make sure that high-speed rail comes to Texas. As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I know that connecting Dallas and Houston by high-speed rail would have an enormous economic impact on our state, creating jobs and allowing our local economies to flourish. A key part of bringing this project to North Texas is fostering the relationship with Japan–where high-speed rail technology is developed. This week, I met with Minister Ishigaki of Japan to discuss moving forward on the Texas Central High-Speed Rail Project between Dallas and Houston.
I was also proud to help secure funding, and fight to cut red tape as this project continues to move forward.

Earlier this year, I invited Dallas Regional Chamber CEO and President Dale Petroskey to Washington to attend a Joint Meeting of Congress with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Japan has long been a key diplomatic ally of the United States and is one of our largest trading partners and sources of foreign direct investment. Japanese companies have been locating and investing in Dallas and across Texas for years, helping us create jobs and strengthen our economy.

The high-speed rail project is good for business, and good for North Texans. It would open up job opportunities and travel between our state’s two biggest cities, shortening the trip to just 90 minutes. High-speed trains use the technology of the future, and I am so excited to help Texas lead the nation and move this project forward.
Sincerely,
Colin Allred Member of Congress
