Mother's Day weekend is here! This week, I celebrated Mother's Day early with MomsRising and the Democratic Women's Caucus at a press conference to remind Republicans that family values include reproductive freedom and affordable childcare. That means giving mothers the right to make our own healthcare decisions whether it's abortion, birth control, or IVF. It also means helping mothers everywhere stay in the workforce through affordable childcare. Without childcare, I wouldn't have been able to run for Congress. So, for Mother's Day, Republicans need to take action and support legislation for reproductive freedom and affordable childcare, and don't forget our flowers and chocolates too! | I've held many titles in my life, State Senator and Congresswoman are two y'all might be familiar with, but my most important title will always be mama. I love being a mother to my Carter Cakes. Everything that I do is for him, and even though I spend a portion of my week away from him when I'm in DC--being a mother never stops. I look forward to celebrating Mother's Day with my Carter Cakes and my husband Leslie on Sunday. | This Saturday, May 11th I'll be celebrating High School students at the Fighting Fifth Congressional Art Competition Awards Ceremony. This year, I received 21 submissions, and it is an honor to have so many artistic students showcase their masterpieces.
