Hello, Friends —

This week, the House of Representatives passed legislation to combat the unfair effects of illegal immigration upon the apportionment of congressional districts. H.R. 7109, the “Equal Representation Act,” requires the 2030 census, and each subsequent census, to include a checkbox for the respondent and each member of their household to indicate whether each individual is a United States citizen. Additionally, it would mandate the Department of Commerce to make available the number of noncitizens living within each state. Further, it excludes noncitizens from being counted toward the number of representatives each state gets in the House of Representatives.

I voted in favor of this commonsense bill. Allowing illegal aliens to be counted toward congressional apportionment is absurd and has extreme implications by giving states with high numbers of noncitizens an inflated number of elected officials in the House of Representatives. Given this reality, it is not hard to see how the radical Left could use the unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants to boost their number of legislators at the federal level. I refuse to see this take hold; American citizens have already been disenfranchised enough by the derelict immigration policies of President Biden and the Democrats in Congress.

REP. GAETZ RELEASES PART II OF REPORT INTO THE STATE DEPARTMENT’S INTELLIGENCE COVER-UP IN NIGER

I released a follow-up investigative report, titled “Part II Interim Report – Unwelcome in Niger,” on the Biden administration’s handling of the coverup of intelligence in Niger. This report specifically details the recent events in the region since my initial report on April 18th showing the imminent threat U.S. forces face in Niger. My latest report, which includes additional information from active-duty whistleblowers, details how more than 1,000 U.S. service members and contractors are functionally being held as hostages in Niger.

I recently met with Chargé d’Affaires Idi Hassane at the Washington, D.C.-based Nigerien Embassy regarding requests for oversight flights to bring necessary supplies to our troops. Mr. Hassane assured me that all overflights requested by the U.S. government for troop rotations and medicine would be approved by the government of Niger, yet this has been proven false given the continued reports I have received saying there have been no overflights. Consequently, our troops in the country are not getting life-sustaining supplies, such as clean water and medicine for chronic conditions. The U.S. and Nigerien governments should not be using our troops as pawns while diplomatic negotiations regarding the withdrawal of U.S. troops are ongoing.

A real President would not leave our troops behind; a real president would direct C-130s—with full fighter escort if necessary—to Niger today with the water, medicine, and other supplies our troops need.

REP. GAETZ REACTS TO REP. GREENE ATTEMPTING TO OUST SPEAKER JOHNSON

On Wednesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene brought her motion to vacate Speaker Mike Johnson to the floor of the House of Representatives. I think she made a truthful, compelling case against Mike Johnson, and she should be commended for this work.

I ultimately voted to table the motion for one principal reason: With a two-seat majority in an election year, I believe two or three Republicans could be susceptible to bribes to resign, or even vote for a Democrat. Democrats would then instantly deem Trump an “insurrectionist” to bar him from the ballot.

House Republicans must do better. We must be led better. While I voted to table the motion to vacate the Speaker, hopefully this threat can be used as a positive upward management tool in order to get the most out of him.

REPS. GAETZ, JORDAN, BIGGS DEMAND BUREAU OF PRISONS DIRECTOR TESTIFY BEFORE CONGRESS AFTER BLOCKING PETER NAVARRO INTERVIEW

I, along with Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and Subcommittee Chairman Andy Biggs, sent a letter to Bureau of Prisons Director Colette Peters on Thursday demanding she appear before the Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance after blocking my interview request for Peter Navarro.

Earlier this week, Director Peters denied my request to interview Mr. Navarro while in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons, claiming he is “too notorious” to be interviewed by a member of Congress. Following my phone call with Director Peters, I spoke on the House floor to alert Congress of the Bureau of Prisons holding Mr. Navarro as a political prisoner and not allowing him the right to meet with his attorney or members of Congress. Accordingly, the letter requests for Director Peters to testify before the Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance at 2:00 p.m. on June 13th, 2024.

John Gotti was interviewed in prison. The QAnon Shaman was interviewed in prison. Director Peters herself brought NBC News through prisons to showcase the work of corrections that’s being done. I demand that Mr. Navarro is given the opportunity to speak publicly on the conditions he is being forced to endure!

LOCKHEED MARTIN’S F-35S ARE NOT MISSION CAPABLE

I joined WEAR-3 on Wednesday to discuss the feeble state of our military’s F-35 stockpiles. I have been working to hold Lockheed Martin accountable for the lack of sustainment of its own F-35 fighter jets.

Right now at Eglin Air Force Base in my district, only 40 percent of the F-35s could fly a particular mission on any given day! We have to fix the airframe we currently have before giving Lockheed Martin an incentive with a whole lot more orders. That’s just common sense.

AROUND THE DISTRICT

TEAM GAETZ TOURS PERDIDO RIVER

Image

This Tuesday, members of my staff participated in a tour of the Perdido River as an opportunity to see the future of restoration and protection efforts along the river. The Pensacola & Perdido Bays Estuary Program team provided valuable insight into the Perdido watershed; examples of natural climate solutions, current and planned; and the habitat and biodiversity need of the watershed.

My office thoroughly enjoyed interacting with our neighboring Alabama congressional offices and officials from the City of Orange Beach, as we all enjoy the benefits of the Perdido River and surrounding bays.

DISTRICT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

I’m excited to announce that my district office in Crestview is looking for summer interns! Every 12 weeks, my office in Crestview selects new students to intern in my office.

The program isn’t just about learning the inner workings of a congressional office; it’s an active participation role. As an intern, you’ll be working alongside my team, helping with a range of tasks, such as handling constituent requests, drafting correspondence, and supporting the everyday operations in our district office. You’ll also play a crucial role in district-specific projects, special events, and community-outreach initiatives.

To be eligible, applicants must be a high school graduate or currently enrolled in a college program, reside within our district, and be prepared to dedicate up to 20 hours a week to the internship, from May through September. Interns will receive a small stipend for their service.

U.S. State Media DELETES Pro-Biden ‘Fact Check’ After Rep. Gaetz Exposes Propaganda in National Pulse Exclusive

“‘Our Polygraph.info post concerned the article from BreakThrough News in which you were quoted and not your quote itself. That is why our reporter did not call your office,’ acting director Lippman wrote in a letter responding to Gaetz. Despite initially trying to cover for his taxpayer-funded organization’s mistake, Lippman conceded: ‘In hindsight, we should have. We did not intend the story to be accusatory of you and apologize if you felt that it was.’”

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz Releases Part 2 Of Niger “Cover Up”

“‘I fear the administration will handle this withdrawal similarly to the withdrawal from Afghanistan,’ Gaetz continued. ‘The safety and security of all service members must be our top priority in this time of transition. I look forward to the administration’s thorough brief on the basis for this decision and their plan for the path forward; our troops deserve as much.’”

Matt Gaetz Cries Foul After Federal Bureau of Prisons Denies His Request to Interview Former Trump Advisor Peter Navarro

“‘I think there’s something else afoot here’ Gaetz said. ‘Mr. Navarro, I’m being told is not allowed to access his attorney.’ Gaetz said the actions of the Federal Bureau of Prisons vindicates Navarro’s claim that he is being held as a political prisoner. ‘It is shameful what is being done to Peter Navarro based on a sham January 6 Committee and a sham indictment and a sham conviction that we ought to work to remediate immediately upon President Trump’s rightful and righteous return to office,’ Gaetz declared.”

The Gaza Pier Scheme Is an Unlimited Liability

“Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin made a bad showing in his testimony before Congress last week. In a heated exchange with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), the general said that the American troops deployed on our $320 million aid-delivery pier off the Gaza Strip—by the way, as of last reporting, we still didn’t know how we were going to get aid materials off it to the shore—will be allowed to return fire on the off chance that someone shoots in their direction from the active war zone they’re going to be next to.”

House Judiciary GOP Demand Testimony From Official Who Blocked Congressman From Speaking To Peter Navarro

“Gaetz alleged Peters’ reason for not allowing him to interview Navarro is because he is ‘too notorious’ to be interviewed by a member of Congress. Gaetz has since argued that the denial of his request does not make sense, as John Gotti was interviewed in prison and the QAnon Shaman was interviewed in prison.”
