COVID-19 Update

The number of confirmed cases in the U.S. now tops more than 400,000 people.
Also, the number of deaths from COVID-19 reaches past 10,000 [ [link removed] ] .
See the number of reported cases in your area with this interactive map [ [link removed] ] .

New York has been the epicenter of the pandemic in the U.S. On Monday, Gov.
Andrew Cuomo expressed his hopes [ [link removed] ]
of a potential plateau in the rate of deaths, which had stayed “effectively flat”
for a short period. On Tuesday, Cuomo said 731 more people died from COVID-19,
which The New York Times describes as “the largest single-day increase in deaths
from the coronavirus since the crisis began.”

As a positive note on the world’s effort to combat COVID-19, China reported its
first day on Tuesday with no new deaths from the virus [ [link removed] ] .
With that, it has lifted major restrictions in Wuhan, which has been under
lockdown since late January.

A worldwide scientific effort
[ [link removed] ] has
rallied together and created a “global collaboration unlike any in history,”
reported the New York Times. “Never before, researchers say, have so many experts
in so many countries focused simultaneously on a single topic and with such
urgency. Nearly all other research has ground to a halt.”
