Looking out for the vulnerable
It’s important that we all look out for each other, especially during times of crisis. Looking out for someone might just mean noticing they haven’t opened their curtains in a while, or thinking about someone who might be alone with no one to speak to.

If you’re concerned about a person like this, who doesn’t have friends and family to support them, you can ring the emergency hotline 0161 770 7007 to support them. All you need to give is an address and if possible a name and we will do the rest.

Over the Easter weekend our emergency helpline is open from 11am to 2pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

#StayHomeSaveLives
Ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend everyone needs to remember to stay at home. Meeting up, or travelling to see loved ones, is not an option. Christopher Biggins ([link removed][UNIQID]) and Barrie McDermott ([link removed][UNIQID]) have been helping use get the message out on twitter!

Bereavement at this time, our charges
The council is working very hard to support residents who are going through a bereavement. Burials and Crematoria services is one of the areas we’ve looked and we are going to freeze our fees and charges for the cost of burials (interments) and cremations and, for the next six months, reduce them by £100. We hope these measures will help, even in a small way. Our website will be updated shortly.

National guidance for carers
The government yesterday published guidance for carers at this time. You can read it ** here ([link removed][UNIQID])
