Hey John,
A lot has happened since I last sent you an update from the campaign trail. Most recently, we smashed our fundraising goal for our first May filing deadline, raising over $170k from supporters like you.
We’ve also been all over Denver during the Walsh Community Tour. You can check out more of what I’ve been up to below!
Last Saturday, we joined the Cinco de Mayo downtown parade with some of our supporters. It was a privilege to celebrate the strength and diversity of our city’s great Latino community.
Then, we joined our Team Walsh volunteers and knocked doors in North Denver.

Earlier this month, I attended a wonderful forum at the Buell Public Media Center to answer questions from our supporters and voters in the community. I really enjoyed talking about your concerns for Denver and how we can work together to reform the criminal justice system.

In late April, I had the privilege of attending the Organizations of Montebello Summit hosted by Khadija Haynes and the Montbello Organizing Committee. It was great to learn more about their thoughts and ideas on addressing youth violence, police accountability, and community safety.

I also attended a ceremony at Porchlight Family Justice Center to commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week and recognize the important work that organizations like Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance, Porchlight, Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center and others do to lift victims’ voices and provide comprehensive legal, emotional, and critical supportive services for survivors.

Next, I attended a construction tour of Urban Peak’s new ‘Mothership,’ an extraordinary new housing center for unhoused youth, using trauma-informed design. Urban Peak provides a full array of services for youth experiencing trauma and homelessness. It is crucial that we work with these community partners to ensure those who are most vulnerable receive the services they need most.

After a moving vigil on the 25th Anniversary of Columbine, I participated in a crucial conversation about protecting our kids through youth development programs at the Colorado Black Round Table with students, elected leaders, and youth organization leaders, convened by John Bailey.

And this is only scratching the surface. Since this campaign began, we’ve also held nearly 60 meet and greet events in neighborhoods all over Denver, knocked on thousands of doors and made thousands of calls.

It’s been incredible to meet with so many leaders in our community and, most importantly, Denver voters so we can talk about the issues that matter most to you. Since day one, this campaign has been about your safety and improving our community’s criminal justice system so it works for everyone.
However, I’ll need your help to make that happen. Can you chip in $10, $25, or even $50 to my campaign so we can build a safer, more welcoming Denver community? [[link removed]]
Thank you for supporting the campaign,
– John Walsh
