We just hit two major milestones in our effort to make the great outdoors even greater: 100 miles of trails and 1 million trees!
Let us tell the story in two photos…
Here’s Governor Holcomb in Merrillville cutting the ribbon on the 100th mile of our Next Level Trails.
As he put it: "One hundred miles is more than just a milestone achievement for Indiana. The completion of this trail section in Lake County represents the incredible collaboration we’ve seen across the state as Hoosiers have come together with the support of our Next Level Trails program to make more connections. This momentum can be felt in every corner of Indiana, and it will continue as more Hoosiers hit the trails this year.”
This photo shows Governor Holcomb fulfilling a promise from his 2020 State of the State Address. In that speech, he directed the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to plant 1 million trees. This young tree is number one million!
Governor Holcomb is committed to making Indiana a better place to live, work, stay, study, and play. That means improving our economic environment and our natural environment.
These achievements preserve our great outdoors for future generations of Hoosiers and continue Indiana’s important legacy of conservation.
