John, my story about why I decided to run for Congress actually starts on one of the scariest days of my life.
In November 2021, my son survived a mass shooting at his school, and those few seconds where I didn't know if he was alive were the worst of my life. This tragedy devastated our community, and we’re still picking up the pieces more than two years later.
And then it happened again – just 14 months after the Oxford shooting, fifty kids and families who had already survived one mass shooting were experiencing the unthinkable for a second time.
That's when I knew, as a mom, I had to roll up my sleeves and do something to keep our kids safe. So I've testified in the state legislature, I've organized in our community, and now, where MI-10's own John James has failed to step up to the plate, I'm ready to be the voice our district needs in Congress.
The fight I have ahead of me is going to be incredibly difficult. After qualifying to get on the ballot last month, my team and I have been working all hands on deck to get my pro-safety message out to voters, but we need your help. Will you support my team with a donation of any amount today?

Emily first learned the importance of community and helping others from her mom, a nurse, and dad, a manufacturing representative, while growing up in a tight-knit, middle-class Midwestern family.
The proud product of public schools, Emily worked hard in and out of the classroom, balancing her studies and interest in performing arts with an after-school job as a cashier at Ace Hardware. She went on to earn her B.A. in Biology from Indiana University and Masters from Michigan State University.
Now, Emily is running for Congress in Michigan’s 10th District to keep our kids safe, protect our rights, and lower costs for Michigan families.
Emily chose to move to Oakland County two decades ago because it was the place she wanted to raise her family – a place with friendly neighbors, good schools, and safe neighborhoods.
She and her husband, a retired firefighter and Marine, enjoy camping, fishing, and visiting national parks in their free time.
