Dear Friend,
The MassDems are proud to announce that longtime Democratic activist, and former MassDems Chair, John Walsh will be posthumously honored with a Roosevelt Award at the 25th Annual Massachusetts Democratic Party Dinner. Sadly, we lost John in November 2023, leaving behind an inspiring legacy of leadership deserving of our enduring gratitude.
John’s love of politics was unmatched. He was an unrelenting advocate for our party, one of its strongest recruiters in support of our candidates and the causes we share. I’m proud that MassDems is continuing to honor John and his legacy and can only hope we continue to live up to it.
Along with a litany of impactful leadership positions, John served as Chief of Staff in the office of Senator Ed Markey, who shared this in response to the news of the Roosevelt Award:
"John Walsh dedicated his hands and his heart to action – to building, growing, and expanding participation in our democracy through the Democratic Party. He believed, without fail, in the grassroots and trusted the organizers on the ground to find solutions. John Walsh brought a deep and profound level of humanity to every campaign he led and to his leadership as Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, embodying the spirit and actions of Roosevelt Award recipients."
