June 4, 1:00 - 2:30 PM
?
Learn about the importance of water, or ?Nibi?, in Anishinaabemowin, and ?Manoomin? (wild rice), which holds cultural and ecological significance for the Ojibwe and Anishinaabe tribes. It represents the interconnectedness of all life, emphasizing the importance of protecting water systems and the delicate balance of ecosystems. This webinar is being hosted as part of an annual Great Lakes and Fresh Water Week celebration to help residents around the state to learn about, enjoy, appreciate, and safeguard this vital resource, for current and future generations.
In Michigan, water and wellness go hand in hand ? for people and nature alike. Michigan?s Great Lakes and Fresh Water Week 2024, June 1-9, will highlight this water-wellness connection and the many ways our waters nourish our ecosystem, our health, and enrich people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds through learning, exploring, and enjoyment ? even preparing them for rewarding careers in Michigan?s water-centered blue economy. Join as we reinforce our commitment to Michigan?s precious Great Lakes and fresh water ? for the week and for generations to come.
