Governor DeWine Appoints Petrella to Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of Jennifer Petrella to the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division.
Petrella, of Dayton, will assume office on June 3, 2024, and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Denise Martin Cross, who retired. She will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election in November 2024 to retain the seat.
Petrella most recently worked as a court administrator and part time magistrate for the Montgomery County Domestic Relations Court and an adjunct law professor at the University of Dayton School of Law. She began her law career as a part-time law clerk to the chief magistrate/legal director of the Montgomery County Juvenile Court.
In 1995, Petrella received a bachelor's degree from Wheeling Jesuit College. She received her juris doctor from the University of Dayton in 1998.
Petrella is a member of the Stanley Z. Greenberg Family Law Forum, Dayton Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, and the Ohio Association of Court Administrators. In her community, she serves on the St. Peter Bazaar Committee, volunteers at the St. Peter Food Pantry, and an executive board member and treasurer of the Miami Valley Crime Stoppers.
