Friend, America’s had enough of insecure, egomaniacal, attention-seeking blowhards these past few years.
But if you thought the previous sentence was a thinly-veiled reference to President 91 Criminal Charges, you’d be wrong. I’m talking, of course, about a different insufferable megalomaniac putting our democracy at risk: Elon Musk.
Speaking of putting our democracy at risk: Will you chip in $10 to support my fight for truth and transparency online?
Listen, friend: I’ve enjoyed using Twitter ever since I signed up back in August 2009. Since then, it’s become a truly valuable part of our national political landscape.
I also believe that the people who run Twitter have a responsibility to balance free expression with the trust and safety of its users (most of whom are not hateful extremists, thankfully).
But when its CEO is proudly restoring banned white supremacists (Elon reinstated a well-known neo-Nazi just last week!), firing half the Election Integrity unit, and slashing 80% of Trust and Safety staff, we’re in big trouble.
Because Elon Musk’s ultimate goal isn’t free speech. It’s to control information and influence our elections in a way that benefits him personally and financially.
People like Trump and Musk put profits over people. We need to elect leaders who put people and principles first. Will you pitch in $10 to support my fight for accountability and transparency – online and in Washington?
Thank you for reading.
Yours,
Sean Casten
