Ruth’s List is excited to announce our latest endorsement – Representative Allison Tant, running for re-election to Florida House District 9 in north Florida!
Representative Tant has served the Big Bend communities for many years and in 2013 was inducted into the Tallahassee Democrat’s 25 Women You Need to Know. She serves as the ranking member of the House Post-Secondary Education & Workforce Committee, the ranking member of the Commerce Committee, and as a member of the Ways & Means Rules, Health Care Regulation & Insurance & Banking Committees.
Tant’s primary passion and legislative focus is advocacy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She is the Founder of Independence Landing, an affordable housing option for adults with a range of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. She is also the Founding Chair Emeritus for KEYS (Keys to Exceptional Youth Success), a scholarship program for students with disabilities where she has worked to establish several programs for Big Bend residents, with a specific focus on assisting students with disabilities. She is an active member of the Capital Women’s Network and is also a past Chair of the Florida Democratic Party.
Representative Tant is a force in the Florida House for the rights and dignities of women, children, and families. Her commitment to improving access to education in Florida, specifically for students with unique abilities, coupled with her legislative leadership positions, makes her a formidable opponent to anyone who stands in the way of progress. She is one of our most ardent champions, and Ruth’s List is committed to doing everything we can to ensure she is re-elected this November. Will you join us in helping to send her back to the Florida House?
