With so much happening, it can be hard to feel like there is much you can do right now as we continue to social distance.
Real Justice’s work hasn’t stopped. We’re fighting to protect incarcerated people during this public health crisis and fighting to elect more reform-minded prosecutors to District Attorney’s offices to ensure that in the future we will have better processes and procedures to protect people in our criminal justice systems.
The COVID-19 infection rate in prisons like Rikers Island are higher than any infection hotspot in the nation, and rates are climbing fast.
We’re organizing around the clock to put pressure on District Attorneys, Sheriffs, and Governors to release people in every county and state with high prison populations.
This work is only possible through the generous support of people like you who care about the human rights and dignity of the vulnerable people in our criminal justice systems.
Lives depend on our work right now. If we do not act quickly, increasingly more incarcerated folks will be put at risk.
