Michigan Veterans Unite Behind Tom Barrett

(Lansing, Mich.) – Today, 22-year U.S. Army veteran and congressional candidate Tom Barrett announced the launch of the Veterans For Barrett coalition with over 100 veterans from across Mid-Michigan coming together in support of his candidacy.

“Tom’s exemplary service to our country and our state makes him the most qualified candidate to serve as the next congressman for the 7th District. Congress has seen a decrease in its members who are veterans, and we need more representation in Washington. I’m proud to endorse Tom and serve as the Chair of Veterans For Barrett because I know Tom will continue to vigorously fight for veterans, their families, and our military in Congress, just as he did during his time in the Michigan Legislature,” said Bobby Bright. Brite served 26 years in the Army and is an Iraq War veteran, where he earned the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He is also the past Commander of American Legion Post 141 in Howell, one of Michigan's top-performing posts.

“I was elected to the Michigan legislature 10 years ago as the only Iraq War Veteran in the entire House of Representatives, and as a freshman lawmaker one of my proudest achievements was leading the legislative effort to address the chronic abuse, neglect, and coverup at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. I will take this same fire in my belly to Washington as a voice for veterans, so they receive the care, resources, and respect that they have earned through their sacrifice and service to our country. I will never forget what the Army has done for my family and me and it will serve as my compass in Congress to ensure our military remains focused on our warfighter mission instead of becoming distracted by woke DEI mandates,” said Barrett.

Earlier this year, Tom’s likely opponent wore a U.S. Army-issued jacket to a Veterans Day memorial, though he’s never served in any branch of our armed forces. He took the stage with uniformed soldiers and veterans and allowed everyone to believe he served though he was wearing another man’s uniform.
