Business Rates Grants - How to Apply
Nottingham City Council is processing the government rates and grants support to businesses as quickly as possible, to give you the cash to support you during this crisis.
You can get this support for your business if the following applies to you:
- Businesses in receipt of small business rate relief
- Hospitality/Leisure/Retail business depending on the rateable value of the property.
If you are currently in receipt of the retail rate relief this will be increased from 50% to 100% in 2020/21 and has been expanded to include hospitality and leisure sectors. To be clear, if you are a retail, leisure or hospitality business, you will automatically have had your rates direct debits cancelled or the money will be refunded for 2020/21. In this case, there is no action required to receive the rates holiday.
Check the?Nottingham City Council business support pages?for information.
To apply for the business support grant, we will need you to send us some brief details. You can?fill out the e-form here?to help us process the information.?Please carefully check your details are correct so we can process your payment quickly.
We have had thousands of responses so far, but the more information we get from businesses, the quicker we can process payments.
Business Support Grant FAQs
What if I don?t have all the information to hand?
Fill in what you know and we will endeavour to fill in the gaps, or contact our?Business Support Team?who will help you through the process.
What if I am home based and don?t pay business rates but council tax?
Unfortunately, you will not qualify, but we have raised this issue with government and asked for additional support.
What if I am a small business but pay my rates via the landlord in an all in one package?
Unfortunately, you will not qualify, but we have written to the?government and asked for additional support.
How quickly will I get paid?
We will aim to get payments out to the first straightforward cases in the next days. We have over 7000 properties to deal with, so processing such a large number will take some time.
If I am automatically eligible, why do I need to fill in a form?
The form will allow us to process payments quicker. We aim for all eligible businesses to receive their full grants and rates discounts. Once our process and systems are fully operational, we will be able to check back where a business has not yet received a grant.
What if my rateable value is above ?51,000, and I am a retail/leisure/hospitality business?
You will pay no rates in 2020/21 for the property but will not be eligible for a grant as well. Direct debits will have been cancelled by us. If not, please get in contact via?[email protected]?and we will arrange a rebate.
