Here’s the rundown of what’s been going on in Louisiana — and how we’re springing into action: 

FIRST: Lawmakers enacted a more representative congressional map that follows the Voting Rights Act for the upcoming 2024 elections. Black Louisianans — who represent about one-third of the state’s electorate — were set to be able to elect the candidates of their choice in two of the state’s U.S. House districts.

THEN: Trump-appointed judges struck down the map, going against U.S. Supreme Court precedent in a clear attempt to put their political ideology ahead of the will of the people. 

NOW: With the clock ticking toward November, we’re ramping up our efforts to ensure fair maps are enacted across the country so voters can accurately have their voice heard.
