Hi there ––

My name is Colette Atkinson and I am writing you today as a Special Olympics supporter, but more importantly as a proud mom. 

There’s no one quite like my amazing daughter, Hanna Joy Atkinson. Her journey through life has been an incredible testament to kindness, resilience, and the unyielding spirit that defines Special Olympics athletes. And I just can’t believe I have the privilege of being her mom.

Hanna’s been a fighter from the start. At the age of two, she was diagnosed with leukemia but she didn’t let that stop her. After beating cancer, she found Special Olympics and it changed Hanna’s life forever (and mine too)! She found a love for skiing and from there joined swimming, cycling, and Unified basketball.  

But wait, there's more! Hanna's not just a sports superstar—she's a leader too. She represented North America as a Sargent Shriver Global Messenger, served as a Health Messenger, she even runs her own business called "Wholeheartedly Hanna," honoring her late brother, and she also works as a service ambassador at United Airlines where she enhances passengers’ travel experience. I am just bursting with pride for all that Hanna has accomplished. 

As a mom, I've seen firsthand the profound impact a small act of kindness can have, especially for those who may feel like they don't quite fit in. Special Olympics athletes pour their hearts into overcoming challenges and reaching new heights. It's essential to me that they feel loved and appreciated, and I believe you're the perfect person to join me in showing them just that.
