Caucus Voting Continues in Teton County
Ballots sent to voters in a third-round mailing are arriving this week in Teton County post office boxes. Meanwhile, Senator Bernie Sanders has withdrawn his candidacy leaving Joseph R. Biden Jr, the presumptive nominee for the general election in November.
So far 1,491 votes have been cast for Democratic presidential candidates in Teton County, or 30 percent of eligible Dems. In 2016, 964 ballots were cast here. Ballots must be received at the state party office in Cheyenne by next Friday, April 17th. I recommend that you mail them by the end of this week.
Teton County will host our convention on Saturday, May 23. In early May, we will decide if that will take place in-person, or online.
I want to thank everyone for their patience as we adjusted to the limitations place on the caucus by the Covid-19 pandemic. I am grateful that the state party adopted mail-in voting for the first time in 2020. Lessons have been learned that will benefit future caucuses, hopefully and most likely, under less confusing circumstances.
All the Best to You
Marylee White
Teton County Chair

Delegate Nominations Deadline Extended
What is the impact on delegate selection now that all of the presidential candidates have dropped out of the race leaving Joe Biden as the presumptive nominee?
In Wyoming, essentially none. Everyone's votes still count and will apply to the proportion of delegates that each candidate receives whether or not they dropped out as long as the number of votes for the candidate was above 15% of total votes cast.
The Wyoming delegate selection plan has no mechanism to accommodate a candidate dropping out of the race. That means that once the candidate has filed to be on the ballot, they will get delegates apportioned to them as long as they clear the 15% threshold of votes received. Delegate representatives will vote at the state and national conventions in their candidate's name. The candidates’ campaigns can ask those delegates to vote for someone else if they would like.
To become a delegate to the state convention in Powell on June 6, 2020, you must file a statement of candidacy with the county party here: https://www.tetondems.org/delegate-candidacy-form
To become a delegate to the national convention in Milwaukee, which has been postponed until August 17, you must file a statement of candidacy with the Wyoming Democratic Party, to be received by 5 pm on May 20, 2020. You can do this via the online form located here or by printing, signing, and returning the form located here.
