Asma
Hi Friend,

This Mother’s Day, we want to take a moment to celebrate the hard-working parents around the world facing adversity, yet time and time again, provide hope and security for their children.

When Orbis-trained health workers visited Asma’s village, two of her children were diagnosed with trachoma, a painful and potentially blinding infectious disease prevalent in some regions of Ethiopia. Asma was concerned for her children’s future, but glad to finally have answers for their long-lasting vision problems.

“I am delighted to get them the medicine they need,” Asma says. “I apply it to them at night and in the morning after I have washed their faces. I follow the instructions of the health officer and am hopeful they will heal soon.”

Thanks to supporters like you, Asma has the resources she needs to give her children a better future. “I wish for them to learn and transform their lives,” she says. “I hope they become doctors or engineers. To get a good education and become strong readers.”

And it’s not just Asma and her family who are able to access this medication. Thanks to your support, Orbis teams have delivered more than 100 million doses of sight-saving antibiotics in Ethiopia. Read more about Trachoma here >>

Thank you for giving mothers around the world the chance to give their children a brighter future.

We wish you all and your loved ones a happy and healthy Mother’s Day!
