School Nurse Day Theme: Supporting Students in Times of Crisis
This year's theme – School Nurses: Supporting Students in Times of Crisis – reinforces the changing times of 2020. This year, more than ever, all members of our school communities, school nurses included, have been required to take on unprecedented roles and adapt quickly to changes in their jobs.

It is reflective of the significant roles school nurses have in the health care of their school communities to help make a healthier place for children and families to learn and grow during this crisis.
Data Informs School Nursing Practice
Data can be used to create and maintain a culture of evidence-based and data-informed practice. Evidence-based practice is the foundation of 21st century school nursing practice and is an integral part of the Scope and Standards of School Nursing Practice. Evidence-based, data-informed practice is utilized in all five of the principles that make up the Framework for 21st Century School Nursing PracticeTM.

"Meals for Kids" interactive map is available by USDA
The launch of an online tool – the "Meals for Kids" Site Finder – helps families find meals for children during COVID-19. The site currently has more than 20,000 meal sites from 23 states and continuously add new data for each week.

Extending Social and Emotional Learning at Home
Research shows social and emotional learning (SEL) is an important part of child development. SEL can help children and adolescents learn skills they need to recognize and manage emotions and build and maintain positive relationships.

The de Beaumont Foundation and 14 public health partners launched "Why Public Health Matters," a campaign to tell the story of the COVID-19 response through videos from the field. We invite school nurses to share their 60 second videos to show what they are doing as part of public health.
