John,

This crisis has upended the way we care for each other. Caregivers are facing new challenges as social distancing and the virus itself reshape how we relate to even our own families.

But caregivers are not alone amidst this crisis. The caregiving community has been sharing tips and advice and resources online, and we want to make sure you have access to all of it.

First, the National COVID-Ready Caregiver Certification course is available for free through the end of this week, April 10. Designed by NextStep to address the widespread need for CNAs, home care aides, home healthcare aides, and of course family caregivers to gain the skills they need to provide care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thanks to a partnership with LeadingAge and the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA), NextStep is providing this training free of charge through April 10. You can get more information and find out how to sign up here.

Caring Across has put together a few sets of resources of our own. With our partners at the National Alliance of Caregiving, we created a list of tips for Sandwich Generation caregivers in the era of COVID-19.

For employers, our Operations Director Mae put together some notes on how to create a caring workplace and support employees’ caregiving responsibilities.

Caring Across signed on to a helpful list of resources presented by the Rosalynn Carter Foundation, including tips for supporting any caregivers you know.

Elsewhere, our partners have some helpful resources as well. NDWA has tips for care workers in their full list of resources for domestic workers. Easterseals collected resources for engaging kids during this crisis. PHI has options for long-term care providers.

All these resources and more are available on our website. We’re updating this list regularly, so be sure to check back to see what’s new.

Have you seen helpful resources or tips for caregivers that we missed? We’d love to see them. Reply to this email with a link, and we’ll take a look.

With care,

Beth Shipp
Managing Director
Caring Across Generations

PS — How are you doing? We’d love to hear how you’re dealing with this crisis, and what support you need. Reply to this email to let us know.
