The United States is a top contributor to fossil fuel production, subsequently marking the nation as one of the core drivers of the ongoing climate emergency.1
The climate crisis is a Code Red emergency, and we need leaders to take serious action now. This is why we’re demanding President Biden use his power to:
The past four years of Biden’s presidency have shown that fossil fuel corporations and their lobbyists can and will hold back vital legislation to fight the climate crisis. President Biden has the power to make a lot of progress in this fight with just one stroke of a pen — and that’s why we need your help to apply pressure on Biden to follow through with his campaign promises.
Instead of wasting the dollars of taxpayers and utility ratepayers on outdated and costly fossil fuels, we must invest trillions of dollars in renewable energy and transportation, green union jobs, and climate justice. The renewable energy transition must be grounded in justice including the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent of Indigenous Peoples to redress the climate, racial, socioeconomic, and ecological injustices of the fossil fuel era.
The climate crisis is already here and getting worse right before our eyes. We’re urging President Biden to declare a climate emergency before it’s too late. If you’re ready to fight with us, please make a contribution right now to support this work. He needs to do right by our communities and we need your support to ramp up the movement.
In solidarity,
Green New Deal Network
