Explore the 2023-24 SCOTUS decisions!

Dear John,

It has been a busy term for the Supreme Court! Our team curated overviews and questions so you can explore recent SCOTUS decisions (and those still pending!) with your students before the end of the school year. Take a look at a few of the cases heard this term (which runs from October to around late June) and have your students review the decisions of the Court.

Then, review the pending to see if you and your students can predict the way the Court will rule. Then explore with your students how the precedents set by these cases may impact the future of the United States.

What happens when the U.S. Supreme Court is wrong? Use this quick video to explore this important question with your students as a warm-up to this activity using the example of Court cases Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka.

Think the Vote!

Ask students to consider whether former presidents should be generally immune to prosecution for official acts made in office. Once they have their answer, encourage them to vote on our Think the Vote platform!

Students can answer Yes, they do; No, they do not; or a nuanced answer in-between! Be sure to submit your responses by Thursday, May 23, to be considered for this week’s competition, prizes, and the $1,000 grand prize at the end of the school year!
