The Supreme Court is supposed to be fair and independent. Yet, we grapple with a conservative-leaning Court that has hijacked our democracy and weaponized partisanship to strip away our rights, including reproductive freedom and voting rights.
Our current system has turned judicial appointments into political gains that threaten our democracy. Now, a majority of Americans have no trust in the Court.
The Supreme Court Tenure Establishment and Retirement Modernization (TERM) Act has been introduced in Congress. The TERM Act would introduce fixed 18-year terms for current and future Supreme Court justices and establish regular nominations of justices in the first and third years of each presidential term – a necessary, fair, and accountable reform to the judicial system.
Term limits are essential to restoring Constitutional checks and balances to the Supreme Court, ensuring that it remains a body of justice.
If Democrats regain control of the House this fall, this legislation is within reach. With your help, we can elect our pro-choice Democratic moms who will fight for term limits and a fair justice system.
