Like all of you, I am sickened and outraged watching the latest horrors Israel is bringing down on Gaza.

The assault on Rafah is the grand finale of Israel and Joe Biden’s genocide. 

For seven months Israel has systematically herded one and a half million Palestinians into Rafah like lambs led to slaughter. Israel lied and claimed Rafah was a “safe zone” for innocent civilians while they raided, bombed, and demolished every home and hospital in every other part of Gaza.

Right now, as Israel rains bombs down on Rafah and fires heavy artillery from tanks against tents housing over a million Palestinian refugees – including 600,000 children – our president is acting more like an undersecretary for Netanyahu than the commander in chief of the most powerful nation on Earth.

Biden could stop this assault right now. His refusal to do so is one of the greatest moral failings of an American president in living memory.

For weeks now, Netanyahu and his ministers have insinuated their intent to invade Rafah. As ceasefire negotiations made progress and it was clear that an agreement was on the table, Israel stated bluntly that they would invade Rafah with or without an agreement.

This week the negotiators representing Hamas unilaterally accepted a ceasefire agreement brokered by Egypt and Qatar – including a return of all hostages. Hours later, Israel REJECTED this agreement and began their latest assault.

Rafah was supposed to be Biden’s “red line” for Israel – but that, too, was a lie. The simple fact is that Israel could not have committed these crimes without the active, ongoing assistance of the United States.

Ours is the only anti-genocide, anti-war, pro-climate action, pro-worker campaign slated to be on the ballot across the country in November. Biden has failed the test. And Palestine has paid the price.
