John,
Donald Trump is not a normal Republican or even a normal candidate for President. He has 91 felony charges. He still refuses to accept the 2020 election results even after his failed January 6th insurrection. Distressingly, he recently refused to answer if there will be violence in November if he loses again.
But you wouldn’t know that from looking at the news. Here are some of the most recent headlines covering the presidential horse race:

USA Today claims they can’t tell who’s worse for democracy. The Hill says both sides are out of line. The New Yorker is rooting for a rematch as if it were a fight on Real Housewives .
We don’t blame you if you’re concerned – we are, too. The United States is sleepwalking its way into autocracy, and too many in the media are acting like they’ve learned nothing after nearly a decade of Donald Trump.
John, we’ll talk more about Trump’s alarming march to authoritarianism in a moment, but if you want to help us call out the mainstream media’s cowardly reporting in this crucial moment, can you chip in $15 now? [[link removed]]
John, even after trying and failing to overturn the election on January 6th, 2021, he recently claimed that he won Wisconsin, a state Biden carried by more than 20,000 votes.
Election denialism has become so normalized among Trump’s base that the issue has become the defining litmus test for Trump’s potential running mate.
This weekend, Republican Senator and vice presidential candidate Tim Scott, once praised for his moderate views, refused to answer whether he’d accept the 2024 presidential election results if Trump lost.
Scott’s refusal to commit to the peaceful transfer of power, a bedrock of our constitutional democracy, has disturbing echoes to the recent Time Magazine interview, where Trump refused to rule out political violence if he loses.
The press and the GOP aren’t the only ones whitewashing Trump’s authoritarianism. Politico reported that Hollywood is hedging on the promotion of a documentary that shows the horrific violence faced by the police officers who defended the Capitol on January 6th. Why? They’re worried about pissing off potential moviegoers and political backlash.
It’s clear, whether it’s the media, the Republican Party, or Hollywood producers, far too many are cowardly ignoring their obligation to defend our democracy and our Constitution.
At COURIER, we promise never to forget who Trump is: an autocrat who threatens the very existence of our Republic.
Here at COURIER, we prioritize fearless coverage that calls Trump precisely what he is: a dictator who will always put himself before his duty to our Constitution. Can you chip in $15 to help us offer an essential alternative to mainstream media’s cowardice and both sidesism? [[link removed]]
