No matter what industry you work in, the internet is vital to your business. Maybe you are a graphic designer or a construction worker. Perhaps you run an auto-repair shop or you're a financial advisor. Whatever you do, you can't run your business without internet service. Today, people use the internet to make sales, to find new customers, to send receipts, to keep track of their books, and to issue paychecks.
Even if you don't use the internet in your day-to-day, something you do relies on an internet connection.
This is even more true for rural Americans. They live in the most sparsely populated sections of our country and may drive hours simply to go to a grocery store. It is costly for internet providers to reach rural residents and can be a big expense for residents to get it hooked up.
So when Congressional extremists blocked renewal of the Affordable Connectivity Program, they were actually disadvantaging rural communities even further. Studies have shown that the ACP has provided more than $16.2 billion in benefits — roughly twice the cost of the program — for rural residents. That means for every dollar we spend on rural broadband, we can expect to see two dollars back.
When rural priorities aren't represented in Congress, this is what happens. The far-right and MAGA extremists pretend to care about rural workers and families, but then they cut vital programs like the ACP.

In 2018, his campaign lost by just 3% — fewer than 11K votes— in a district with 70,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats and where Trump won by 27% in 2016. J.D. represents Iowa's 1st District in the State House and continues to advocate for residents in small towns across Iowa.
