Dear supporter,
Back in 2014, the Scottish Parliament decided that every child in Scotland should have a ‘named person’ – a state official tasked with looking after their ‘wellbeing’, defined as “happiness”.
The scheme required the designated named person to record and share confidential information about children and their parents.
To combat this threat to family life, The Christian Institute and others formed the No To Named Persons campaign. Its grassroots action and the Institute-led judicial review ultimately resulted in the UK Supreme Court unanimously striking down the central provisions of the scheme.
Ten years on, some of the NO2NP team reunited to reminisce about how a small group of dedicated campaigners helped to secure freedom for every family in Scotland:
