The Alcohol Policy Resource Center at Prevention First provides training, education, resources, and tools on evidence-based alcohol policy strategies to municipalities, local officials, law enforcement, and community coalitions focused on underage drinking in communities throughout Illinois. Mission Helping communities reduce underage drinking and alcohol misuse. Goal To reduce alcohol use among those who are 12-25 years old in communities throughout Illinois. April is Alcohol Awareness Month The APRC would like to highlight Alcohol Awareness Month by sharing resources your community can utilize to prevent or reduce youth alcohol use. The Strategic Prevention Framework, or SPF, is the key to putting in place those strategies and policies that will reduce or prevent youth alcohol use. We have vital resources you and your coalition can use to build your capacity on policies, ordinances, and strategies. We can offer you free Technical Assistance on the Strategic Prevention Framework, policy & ordinance development, and law enforcement strategies. Featured Resources Strategic Prevention Framework overview If your SPF Assessment has revealed high Social Access, then you may want to consider a local Social Host Ordinance. The APRC has a number of resources pertaining to Social Host Ordinances. You can download a free Fact Sheet and a Resource Guide. We also have a directory of local ordinances from locations throughout Illinois. We can also offer free Technical Assistance to guide you and your coalition through the steps of creating and passing a local social host ordinance. Alcohol Compliance Checks are an ideal strategy for reducing or preventing underage alcohol use especially if your SPF Assessment has revealed high Retail Access. This strategy is conducted by Law Enforcement and Youth - 2 very important sectors of your coalition. The APRC can provide Technical Assistance on Alcohol Compliance Checks.
