Pennsylvania congressman and Big Lie enthusiast Scott Perry, himself a subject of the DOJ's Jan. 6 investigation, told lawmakers in a private briefing Tuesday that the Ku Klux Klan is..."the military wing of the Democratic Party," CNN reported, citing an audio recording of his comments. Okaaaay. "The KKK in modern times, a lot of young people think somehow it’s a right-wing organization when it is the military wing of the Democratic Party: decidedly, unabashedly, racist, and antisemitic," Perry said with what we can only assume was a straight face. He then pivoted and, without an ounce self-awareness, declared that the "great replacement theory," the conspiracy theory that white Americans are intentionally being replaced by minorities, was "real."

Biden says US won't supply weapons for Israel to attack Rafah, in warning to ally
President Biden said Wednesday that he would not supply offensive weapons that Israel could use to launch an all-out assault on Rafah — the last major Palestinian population center not under IDF control — over concern for the well-being of the more than 1 million civilians sheltering there. Biden said the US was still committed to Israel’s defense and would supply Iron Dome rocket interceptors and other defensive arms, but that if Israel goes into Rafah, "we're not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells used." The US, of course, has historically provided enormous amounts of military aid to Israel. That has only accelerated in the aftermath of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack that killed some 1,200 in Israel and led to about 250 being taken captive by militants. In the seven months since the attack, Israeli forces have killed more than 34,000 Palestinians, including 13,000 children. Biden’s comments and his decision last week to pause a shipment of heavy bombs to Israel are the most striking manifestations of the growing daylight between his administration and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s radical, far-right government.

Florida deputies who fatally shot US airman burst into wrong apartment, attorney says
Deputies responding to a disturbance call at a Florida apartment complex burst into the wrong unit and fatally shot Senior Airman Roger Fortson who was home alone, civil rights attorney Ben Crump said Wednesday. Crump said Fortson, who was Black, was on a Facetime call with an unnamed woman at the time of the encounter. According to Crump, the woman said Fortson was alone in his apartment when he heard a knock at the door. He asked who was there but didn't get a response. A few minutes later, Fortson heard a louder knock but didn't see anyone when he looked through the peephole. The woman said Fortson was concerned and went to retrieve his gun, which Crump said was legally owned. As Fortson walked back through his living room, deputies burst through the door, saw that Fortson was armed, and shot the innocent man six times, killing him.

Trump wins further delay in another one of his criminal cases — this time in Georgia
In yet another confounding legal victory for the serially indicted ex-president, a Georgia appeals court on Wednesday delayed Trump’s criminal case in that state, agreeing to hear an appeal from the MAGA cult leader that may foreclose a trial taking place this year. The news comes less than a day after Trump-appointed US District Judge Aileen Cannon indefinitely postponed his federal trial in Florida on charges of hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after leaving office. When it comes to Donald, that long arc of justice just can't find its way.
