Friend –

When a company touts the health benefits of its products, you’d expect them to value the health of their workers and surrounding communities too, right? Unfortunately, Wonderful, the company behind POM pomegranate juice and Wonderful pistachios, isn’t living up to its marketing claims.

A new EWG analysis reveals that Wonderful is the second largest sprayer of toxic paraquat in California! The company sprayed more than 56,000 pounds of paraquat on its pomegranate, pistachio and almond trees in 2021. Paraquat has been linked to an increased risk of Parkinson’s disease, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and childhood leukemia. That’s not so wonderful.

EWG is urging Wonderful to make good on its claims (and its name) and quit spraying toxic paraquat. Will you join us?

Tell Wonderful to protect the health of its workers, surrounding communities and its customers by ending the use of toxic paraquat immediately!

Paraquat is so toxic it’s been banned in more than 60 countries, and the EPA has banned its use on golf courses. Yet in the U.S. it’s still sprayed on farmland. One study found that workers who spray paraquat are more than twice as likely to develop Parkinson’s disease than workers who applied other pesticides. Paraquat can also drift away from farm fields, putting local communities at risk.

It’s time to end the use of paraquat in California and that starts by holding companies like Wonderful accountable. We need to tell Wonderful: If you claim to value health, you shouldn’t spray tens of thousands of pounds of toxic pesticides such as paraquat.

Join EWG and urge Wonderful to honor its marketing claim and stand on the side of health. It’s time to stop spraying paraquat!

Thanks for standing with us, friend.
