You can help stop the latest attack on Jack!

Dear John,

Colorado cake artist Jack Phillips is a man of strong faith. He can’t compromise his beliefs—even at great cost.

That’s why Jack has been forced to spend the last seven years of his life in court.

It all started in 2012 when the Colorado Civil Rights Commission pursued legal action against Jack after he respectfully declined a request to create a custom-designed cake celebrating a same-sex wedding.

In 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Jack. The high court found that the state had acted with “clear and impermissible hostility” toward Jack’s religious beliefs, violating the First Amendment.

It should have ended there. But then the same Colorado government agency decided to prosecute Jack a second time—mere weeks after the Supreme Court’s decision.

This time around, government officials came after Jack because he declined to create a custom cake celebrating a gender transition. Thankfully, after Jack filed a federal lawsuit against those government officials, they backed off.

But Jack’s legal journey is still not over.

The individual who requested the gender-transition cake (and also happens to be an attorney) wasn’t satisfied and decided to sue Jack in state court seeking damages of more than $100,000!

Jack knows that the government has promised to protect religious freedom and freedom of speech. No one should be able to force him to speak a message or celebrate an event that violates his deeply held beliefs.

That’s why Alliance Defending Freedom is defending Jack in court once again today.

We’re asking the court to dismiss this latest attack on Jack. This new lawsuit is nothing more than an attempt to harass and ruin Jack because he wants to design cakes consistently with his religious beliefs.

Jack is determined to fight for his religious freedom—and yours too

You know, as Jack does, that faith isn’t just something reserved for Sundays. It affects every facet of your life—it’s a part of who you are. And the Constitution protects your freedom to live and work consistently with your faith.

That’s why Jack is determined to fight for his religious freedom—and yours too.

But it never should’ve gotten this far.

Opponents of religious freedom are going to extreme lengths to punish those who are willing to stand for their faith.

They won’t stop—and they’ve proven that time and time again.

Activists and state officials have relentlessly pursued Jack in order to punish him for his views, banish him from the marketplace, and financially ruin him and his shop.

There’s a lot at stake in this case today, John. For Jack—and for us all.

Praise God that He continues to provide us with the resources we need to fight back.

Because of God’s provision and the generous support of people like you, ADF has become one of America's most successful advocates at the U.S. Supreme Court, having won ten cases at the high court since 2011. And we're winning nearly 80% of all our cases.

Today, you can help stop the latest attack on Jack and defend people of faith.

A generous Christian family believes in defending freedom so strongly that they have offered a $500,000 challenge grant to inspire you to give to protect Jack and others like him.

God is using your prayers and financial support to help defend people of faith when they face government hostility and punishment, John. And He can use any gift you give today to further the impact of the challenge grant and protect your religious freedom.

God is the source of our hope. And when you stand to defend freedom today, we can be victorious.

Thank you for giving generously.
