There's one simple fact getting ready for an election year -- it was true when I was chair of the Democratic Party and it still is: Nothing is more important in these final days of the year than making sure our candidates all across the country have the resources they need to win.

Their most important resource? You, Samuel.

You've proven that time and time again. Our President inherited a struggling economy that has risen from recession to resurgence because folks like you had his back when it was time to make the tough -- but right -- choices. No one thought health care reform could be a reality, but now millions of previously uninsured Americans have the peace of mind of knowing they are covered -- because you organized your neighbors, donated what you could, and worked tirelessly to make it happen. Marriage equality is the law of the land, our students are doing better than ever and graduating from high school in record-setting numbers, and gas prices are pretty low, too.

We did all that. Together. And I'm damn proud of it.

So right now, as we're staring down the start of a tough election year where we've got to keep the White House and take back Congress -- and yes, Samuel, even with Republicans tripping over themselves to use the most offensive rhetoric, offer up the most backwards policy proposals, and alienate the most Americans, you better believe this election is gonna be a serious fight -- I need to know that you're still standing with us, that you still know how much we can do when we come together with a common goal in mind.
