It’s tough to be a kid today. And, if you have children, I’m sure you know how frightening it is to be a parent.
When I was growing up, I spent most of my free time outside the home – playing with kids in the neighborhood and hanging out with friends at school.
Sadly, social media has destroyed that world. Many kids today spend hours mindlessly scrolling on their phones, cut off from the social activities vital to their development.
This has led to a disturbing mental health crisis among minors. And I firmly believe we need to address the dangers of children using social media.
That’s why I’m partnering with Senator Brian Schatz to introduce the Kids Off Social Media Act to severely limit minors’ use of social media sites. Senator Schatz is a committed liberal, and we don’t agree on much. But we’re both determined to prevent social media companies from ruining our kids’ childhood.
