From insurance companies to weapons manufacturers, every group and organization you can think of has a political action committee, John. When I was elected to Congress, I realized that to have maximum impact on our livable communities agenda, we would need to create our own PAC. So, in 1996, I founded the Committee for a Livable Future (LivPAC) to champion the cause that is central to my service in Congress: promoting communities that are safe, healthy, and economically secure.
For the last five decades, I have traveled to over 200 communities helping promote their livable communities agendas. I've given countless speeches and interviews, and hosted fundraisers. With the support of folks like you, LivPAC has invested millions of dollars in candidates who will make a difference – not for special interests, but for our neighborhoods and communities. Our grassroots movement has enabled LivPAC to support more than 250 House and Senate candidates nationwide!
I will never walk away from our commitment to community empowerment, and a different type of politics – one that brings people together rather than dividing them.
So, even though I'm not running for reelection, I'm not giving up this fight. I hope you're not going to give up, either. Over the years, advocates have joined me in generating millions of dollars for hundreds of candidates. I hope you will continue working with me. I'm not giving up and I hope you won't either.
Livable communities – strengthened by our resolve – are possible, but we have to work together to make them a reality. Please consider making a contribution to LivPAC to keep this fight going as I transition to advocating as a civilian. It's never been more important. [[link removed]]
