If you’ve been following what’s happening in Texas, there’s no denying that we currently have the most corrupt government in our state’s history.
We have Governor Abbott, who accepted the largest bribe in the history of Texas politics — a $6 million donation from an out-of-state billionaire in return for pushing a private school voucher scam in our state.
We have Attorney General Ken Paxton, who recently admitted to key allegations that led to his impeachment — just four months after Senate Republicans refused to convict him on a total of 16 charges of bribery, obstruction of justice, and abuse of public office.
And if we had any doubt about whether corruption influenced Paxton’s acquittal, we just have to look back to last summer, when Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick accepted $3 million from a pro-Paxton PAC just weeks before presiding over the Senate trial.
These are the same guys who couldn’t keep the lights on or the heat running in the energy capital of the world in 2021, causing more than 700 Texans to die because they cared more about their donors’ profits than about fixing our broken power grid.
They’re the same failed leaders who engaged in a monumental cover-up scheme in the aftermath of Uvalde; who in the nearly two years since that tragedy have yet to fully hold accountable a single person who failed those 19 children and two teachers.
Take all of this into account, and it couldn’t be more clear how dangerous it is to keep these people in office. You know it, I know it, and now we have to make sure every Texas voter knows it.
Can you help ensure we have the resources to reach, register, and turn out the voters who will join our fight to remove corrupt politicians from office? [ [link removed] ]
Every dollar will help us knock on doors, meet voters where they are, and help Texans connect the dots on how this corruption has very real consequences on our lives — from the quality of our schools to whether we can keep the lights on and keep our kids safe.
If we all put in the work, I am confident that the voters we reach and register will help us win a better future for our state.
