Governor Polis officially signed into law Jena’s priority legislation that criminalizes fake elector schemes. Under this law, participating in a fake elector scheme could result in felony charges, a $10,000 fine, and being barred from running or holding public office in Colorado.

This law is the first of its kind in the nation. Colorado continues the reputation of having gold-standard elections where voters can have their say and votes are counted and honored. Jena has fought for increased protections of our democracy time and again, and she will continue to work on new laws that protect voting rights and democracy.
