John,

California’s rapid development is impeding wildlife from accessing essential resources like food, shelter, and suitable mates.

As climate change intensifies events like wildfires, floods, and drought, ensuring wildlife have “room to roam” is increasingly important for species survival and ecosystem resilience. In partnership with the Center for Biological Diversity, we are sponsoring California’s Room to Roam Act, a strategic initiative aimed at safeguarding wildlife and bolstering climate resilience. This bipartisan legislation requires the integration of wildlife connectivity into land use planning, mandating cities and counties to identify core habitat and wildlife movement within their jurisdictions.

Your support plays a crucial role in our work to pass this legislation. Please join us to champion policy that supports wildlife and landscape resiliency.

Your donation protects wildlife movement and climate resilience in California.

We look forward to:

  1. Providing expert testimony and information to support the passage of the Room to Roam Act.

  2. Continuing to update and refine our California wildlife crossing database and interactive map to assist local and state governments in the planning of wildlife crossings, including protecting the lands surrounding a highway crossing to ensure long-term connectivity.

  3. Coordinating wildlife biologists, researchers, and government officials in regions across California to share data and develop locally supported projects that will protect and restore important habitat.

This spring, members of our board of directors will match your donation dollar for dollar with a challenge grant of $10,000!

Since Earth Day, we have raised $2,200, and we are only 80 donors away from reaching our goal. Will you give today to support policies that safeguard wildlife in California?

Thank you!
