We are expecting the RCV Local Option to be scheduled on the House floor soon and when the vote comes up, we need to be sure it passes! While we are waiting for the hearing to be posted, please contact your representative and let them know you are counting on their vote!

Thanks to your support and advocacy, House leadership will soon schedule a full-chamber vote on Representative Cedrick Frazier’s Local Voices, Local Choices Act. This is the biggest moment for this bill yet, and it’s important we have the turnout to reflect its importance! Be on the lookout for a separate email with the date and time, and be prepared to show up for RCV! 

The bill, numbered HF3276, is carried by Representative Frazier and Senator Kelly Morrison, and ensures all Minnesota local jurisdictions (cities, counties, school districts) have the power to adopt RCV for local elections if they choose. Currently, less than 1% of local jurisdictions in Minnesota have the authority to adopt RCV. It also provides essential standards for local use of RCV, making the implementation process easier, and allows state certification of RCV voting equipment and tabulation systems, allowing for faster election results. 

In cities that use RCV, turnout is higher, voters like it, and find it easy to use. It’s time to give all local jurisdictions the power to decide for themselves if ranked choice voting is best for them.
