I'm sure you've heard the phrase "It takes a village" about raising children, right? Well, I'd like to suggest a new use for those words. It takes a village to elect women to office in America. Our country still throws up all kinds of barriers for women looking to serve their country as elected officials. Women candidates face double-standards in the media regarding their "likability" and "electability" (don't even get me started on those two words) that men running for office simply don't face. And, frustratingly, women candidates raise less money at every phase of an election cycle compared to men.
