We’re less than a week out from Maryland’s primary election, and I wanted to give you a quick update from the campaign trail.
This election is going to be one for the history books. It’s going to be the most expensive race I’ve ever run. We’ve already seen record levels of spending from my opponents. One opponent has smashed the spending record for self-funders from both parties in every senate campaign in history.
One of the drivers of spending in this race has been attack ads. My opponents have already launched attacks against me, and it’s clear from the content that they will say anything about me to get ahead in this election, regardless of the truth.
Despite all of this, the polls continue to show we’re in a strong position heading into both the primary and general elections, but I am not taking ANYTHING for granted. I’m working for EVERY vote.
I’ve had the best time over the past month visiting Marylanders from across the state in every jurisdiction on the Back to Work Bus Tour. Last weekend, hundreds of Marylanders came out in the cold rain to spend Saturday afternoon with us at the Back to Work BBQ which was a great opportunity to share my message and talk with Marylanders who are as fed up as I am with the divisiveness and dysfunction in Washington.
It’s clear: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. WE NEED CHANGE. LET’S GET BACK TO WORK.
The grassroots support is making a huge difference in this race, and I am so humbled and grateful by the support we’ve received so far. If you’re fed up with the partisan division in Washington and want to help me win this race, I need your help.
Grassroots support is the path to victory in this race. The partisans in Washington are going to throw everything they can at us, but with you on my side, we’ll take the slings and arrows, and emerge stronger.
The partisan bickering is holding our entire country back. The only way we can make progress on the biggest issues facing Americans is by coming together, putting aside our differences, and GETTING BACK TO WORK. Let’s send this message loud and clear to Washington!
